(Tree)

Hey Mat welcome to the forum.
I'm interested, how far did you get in go karting? What made you stop?
Re:Another new Melbourne guy. (scz)

If you want go-kart, AW11 Supercharged hardtop. T-tops are nicer on a sunny day, but weigh about 50kg more. Strip out some interior weight, get a pulley upgrade (or convert to turbo) & you'll have a pretty big smile on your face. Go along to one of the gatherings in Melbourne & see if you can talk one of the lads into letting you have a pedal.
Re:Another new Melbourne guy. (Engineering_guy)

I was at the beginning of last year, but then I had to give me car to my parents, so i could get out to bundorra anymore.
But come december/jan ill be moving out north and getting involved again.
Re:Another new Melbourne guy. (TRD2000)

hey mate!

welcome to MR2A.

i saw AW11... supercharged if you can get it but you can aleways (and will always) do an engine build later.

that said, i reckon SW20's would be easier to find in decent cond.

i'm not sure about parts.
Another new Melbourne guy. (Engineering_guy)

G'day
Names Mat Walker, a Melbourne settled Albury-ian.
Currently completing my second year of mechanical engineering at RMIT.
My background includes 5 years go kart racing, and before uni, i spent 2 years studying motorsports at tafe. This gave me so many opportunities such as working for Bjr, engineering for a formula ford track day, and being totally responsible for the running of a radical sports car. So good.

Anyway I have been looking into mr2s for about a year now, and scrimping and saving (hard when your a student with no centerlinknor parental support) and even completed a medical trial to raise funds.

This is where you guys come in, what's the concensus, sw20 or aw11? Given i prefer my cars go kart spec. Power can come later.
Is there a vic meeting coming up?

Anyway long post is long ill leave it here.
Look forward to catching up and soaking in the knowledge that it seems slot pf you on here have.
Have a good one.
Mat.
