He also said it hasn't had a proper tune yet and that its running crap, which is still good so I can't wait to see what happens when I get bigger injectors and fuel pump and then tune it.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Ant1)

Sounds like a good plan.. Really curious as to how much it would put out on the dyno too.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (MR2QIK)

All at the same time. I doubt you're running out of fueling right now, so upgrading injectors/pump & retuning will get you no gain. Changing the turbo along with it & revisiting the tune will bring it all together <img src="https://www.classic-ford.org/mr2/mr2play/upfiles/smiley/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="" data-smiley="" /> You also avoid doubling up on tuning costs.
Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Ant1)

So you reckon I should get the fuel injectors and pump before the turbo? Or all at the same time?

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (MR2QIK)

Do you have different injectors & pump? If not, get that & upgrade turbo. Should see great results if tuned well. They can prolly sort your tacho too.GT28 or even better a GT3071 would be good.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Ant1)

Wow, never would have thought there was that much difference, thanks.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Admin)

http://www.mr2australia.com/MR2play/tm.aspx?m=47489
Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Ant1)

I better get saving haha.

It doesn't have individual coils.. HEEELP ME lol, there is only one auto electrician open on weekends, and they will charge hundreds as they are a ripoff.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (just_ace)

there's a custom gt2860 kits for sale in the FS section. he hasn't got pics yet but he only wants 1k iirc

or i may know of an ATS gt2860rs kit coming up for sale.

so what igniter have you got? you may need a tacho adapter, i have diagrams of how to make one to suit the gt4 tacho if your running individual coils, but dunno if that's applicable to you.
Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Ant1)

No idea lol.. It's an EMS 8860. Please tell me how I can fix this haha, I'm sick of trying to fix it every day after work.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (robk)

Ant1
No I don't have a stock igniter.. What do I have to do to get it working?.. It's driving me nuts haha.

Ah I see, that probably explains the tacho issue then.
Does your aftermarket ECU have some sort of digital tacho output?
Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (Ant1)

No I don't have a stock igniter.. What do I have to do to get it working?.. It's driving me nuts haha. As well as my speedo going crazy, but I'm going to have a look at that now.

Boost controller (Apexi AVC-R), aftermarket ecu (EMS 8860), aftermarket ignition, side mount intercooler and an aftermarket exhaust.. Pretty sure that's all. Just want it to have a bit more power, nothing to crazy, at the moment I'd rather keep the inside of it stock, but that's not to say for in the future.

Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (MR2QIK)

Can you be more specific as to where you're at modification wise & how far you want to do?
Re:Gen 2 vs Gen 3 (robk)

Ant1
Well my tacho doesn't work, but yeah it does cut out early. Which on a different subject, how the hell do I get it to work?!?! Lol, I have been told I need to wire something to the alternator or something because of the aftermarket ecu.

Do you know if you still have the stock igniter? Work-arounds are required to make the tacho work without the stock igniter.
This is due to the fact that some 'old' cars, like the SW20, have a tacho that determines the RPM based on the time between each voltage spike on the negative of the ignition coil (which is connected to the tacho wire inside/via the stock igniter). If you don't understand what I mean, don't worry, I used to do stuff like this for a living!
