(3sgeTurbo)

As Tipsiduce said first thing you should look at after replacing the igniter is rotor plus cap, alone they can rob you 20% of you power as ignition timing creates boost.

The very last upgrade to a worked 3SGTE would be ignition as the stock unit is more than enough.

if you do want to upgrade ICE ignition is the way to go.

Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (sredze)

right now i just want to keep it how it is, all OEM. But down the track when i hopefully have more money to play with i want to get it up to 400-500 HP. Just taking in info from the pros I guess. :)
Not sure, just know it had an msd ignition thats all.
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (TIPSIDUECE)

what are ur power goals?
do u mean msd ignition amplifier or ignition controller?
no point trying to beef up ur ignition components, stock oem ignition system(in good working order) is more than enough if ur running stock motor/stock turbo even up to 16psi of boost.
regarding msd ignition controller u might aswell get an EMS that controls both fuel and ignition, makes tuning simpler and makes it easier down the track to swith to bigger turbo/fuel system and more boost
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (blacky83)

Its a Toyota, not a Nissan. Most of the stock parts are as good as aftermarket. ;)
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (Mrskylighter)

No need to upgrade the OEM iginition system unless your pushing like 400-500HP.
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (Mrskylighter)

Sorry man. Just checked the igniter and the part number ends in 12010 which won't work for you.
You should be able to locate one fairly cheaply though from one of those guys on here wrecking sw20s.

I don't have spare coil unfortunately.
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (sredze)

thanks for that tips, really aprreciate it. My mr2 has had a previous ignition setup with an msd ignition system.
It was also running a uni-chip and a bigger turbo. These were on the car years ago though when i wasnt the owner.
Now it just has the stock turbo, stock igniton system and stock ecu. If i get an msd ignition, would I need to upgrade the ecu as well? Just wondering on this one?
obviously this would be a lot of money as well
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (sredze)

Awesome. Thanks mate. My igniter part number is 89621 - 12050. 5 Terminal
Whats the mileage on that one? Do you have the coil as well??
Re:Top of the range igniter coils?? (Mrskylighter)

Leads, Dizzy cap and rotor button go for OEM.
Spark plugs I think most use copper NGK bkr6e or bkr7e. I think the 7e is usually used for higher boost???

I have a spare known working igniter here if you need a stock one?
Would just need to confirm part numbers are the same.
Re:Top of the range igniter coils??
