The boot mount cooler was setup to draw in cool air from both side vents.
If you cut away some of the rubber behind the vents it allows air to enter the boot area on each side. Then the two fans blow that air down through the cooler and out.
That method was used so you don't need an ugly scoop on the boot lid which keeps the water out etc etc
Re:Engine bay pics (robk)

Ant1
That's the first boot mounted intercooler I've seen, I guess you have vents on the boot lid?

Speaking of boot-mounted coolers, I just added another photo to my post above.

Surok's car (which is no longer his) doesn't have vents on the boot lid. I think the air comes from the sides of the boot somehow.
Re:Engine bay pics (Ant1)

That's the first boot mounted intercooler I've seen, I guess you have vents on the boot lid?

Re:Engine bay pics (purple5ive)

Cool, suprising that its made more power, was the bov leaking (due to high boost) before????
bet it doesnt sound as good as the old intake though...
Re:Engine bay pics (surok)

yeah thats no BOV and a K&N apollo filter to be 100% legal.. still made more power than with the big pod filter after the engine was run in.
Re:Engine bay pics (purple5ive)

/\ did you change the intake piping specifically the air filter area???
Re:Engine bay pics (surok)

Re:Engine bay pics (Ant1)

Haven't done much to it besides change the leads and clean it a little bit, but here it is anyway -

Re:Engine bay pics (purple5ive)

heres some of my car, just detailed the engine bay over the weekend.

Copy of _D7K5868 by Tucsonmr2, on Flickr

_D7K5856 by Tucsonmr2, on Flickr

_D7K5857 by Tucsonmr2, on Flickr

cheers
