And quiet as.

Mine being an earlier model 1990 that tyre set up is quite nice holds to the road on roundabouts at 100kms no issues at all I think any higher the steering would become heavy and you would sap some power
But if your going for looks then go for a fat tyre your own choice.
And my mr2 runs bc br coilovers
Intake/100 cell cat and a full exhaust besides the headers. Still yet to have it tuned and a piggy back installed and a ported manifold to go on new fpr and bored fuel rail :DThis is my opinion however

I'm sure a lot of these guys know what they are talking about but if you were to turbo charge it then probably upgrade the tyres to a fatter tyre.

My 2 cents
Sorry to ramble on
Very nice buy
How much did you pay?

Welcome to the club as tree said many guys that are very nice and helpful hopefully you keep it tidy
Ethan.

Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (EssDub)

18s = **** tyre selection for them. You can get a 255/35/18 but on an NA that would be hurrendously over-tyred and would suck gas/power. Only other option is 225/40/18 which is thinner than what is available on 17s, and still pretty tall for an NA.

Head for 215/40/17 front and 235/40/17 rear and you will be set :D
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (MRTurbo)

Hi Jock
regarding wheels I've got 17x8 +35 front, 17x9 +35 rear on mine and I think they work very well on my Sdub... Although there will be a few that love their 18s...
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (Jock)

Quick little update! I've done a few (simple) mods here and there and cleaned up the interior/exterior as much as possible:
- clear side and front indicators
- LED gauge cluster
- 2009 Toyota head unit (modified to fit)
- red stitch gear gaiter (with handbrake one on its way)

At the moment I'm looking for some rims, particularly CR Kai's, but not sure if 17s or 18s would be best and what offsets as well, so if anyone could help me out there that'd be awesome. I think I want to keep stock suspension or maybe go for TRD lowering springs, don't really think I want coilovers at the moment. The OEM motorised aerial was stuffed and would keep winding on the way up (but be fine on the way down). I tried a new mast coil but that didn't help so I just opted for winding it a foot or so high and disconnecting the motor. Looks less like an RC car and reception is still perfect.
Everything I've done so far can be converted back to stock if need be as well which I think is good.
A few pics as well, there's heaps more HERE if you feel like taking a look.

(hopefully they work....)
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (Mr2gtracer)

Welcome Jock! :)

Very clean car you have there. Looks like a great platform to start off on.
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (bigh)

Hey Jock :) welcome.

When you hit 18. i'd definitely recommend taking the car on a defensive driving course. insurance companies can like this, and it's a good safe way to get used to the extremes of the car.
take care,
Haydon.
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (Tree)

Hey Jock welcome to the forums you'll find ppl here are friendly and helpful and not judgemental (in my experience).
I like the fact that you really want to get more time and experience with the car because more important than the car's behavior, is the driver's behavior/attitude that may cause that "sticky" situation. I don't like ricer stuff too (my idea of a cool looking exhaust may be disputable however) but it doesn't hurt to have oil pressure, oil temp for those trackdays if you go :)
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (MRTurbo)

Very nice and clean! looks just like MaXims MR2.
Keep it tidy and enjoy it. :)
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (artymr2)

Nice car!! what an awesome beast for a first ride!

+1 for some track time/driver trainingdays with the car, and take it easy as they can bite if you are unwary of its behaviour near the limit.

Cheers

Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (Jock)

Cheers guys, I haven't worked out how to post pictures, but here's a link to some.

http://s1145.photobucket.com/albums/o519/jock182/

Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (MRTurbo)

Welcome Jock
.... when I was 16 I only had an auto Camry to drive lol
Look forward to seeing you and your MR2 on a meet in the near future.
(BTW I've got a white SW20 turbo and I'm also in Adelaide)
Cheers
Josh
Re:1994 SW20 + Introduction (dylmrt)

Welcome mate. Imo, best way to enjoy the blessings and curses of the mr chassis. The best thing is, you can drive it to the track drive it hard all day then top off the tank and drive it home and it wont miss a beat because it's a Toyota. <img src="https://www.classic-ford.org/mr2/mr2play/upfiles/smiley/s4.gif" alt="" data-smiley="" />
