It will fit, but the factory used the heavier E series on the supercharged cars. I am sure the budget will draw out but at 2 - 3 years it should be manageable.

It seems a corolla SECA SX would work as a doner car for engine and potentially a manual gearbox.

Re: My 1986 MR2 Mk1 AW11 (rynex)

Welcome to the club :) I hope you can stick on budget

My 1986 MR2 Mk1 AW11 (alyeomans)

Dear All

My first post and hello to the MR2 community.

I have just purchased an 1986 big port supercharged MR2 and am planning the rebuild. There had been a fire around the dizzy and 300k on the clock and don't have any service history. Still in transit so I don't have specifics.

The plan is an engine and sc rebuild, fuel tank cleanout and pump upgrade, aftermarket ecu using map, more compression, headers and old rust exhaust replacement. Also auto to manual conversion will feature at some point.

So I figure I will need (costs estimate of parts only):
Seal kit $400
Dizzy replacement with CAS type $150
Ecu with map sensor
Fuel pump $80
Coil on plug $150
Plug cover $150
Manual box and shifter $600

Probably with everything I'll be up over the $1600 in parts plus any machining that could be needed. Note leaving ecu out of this workup.

Or I choose some kind of donor car with 4AGE, lower km's - but from what? Corolla with small port and manual?

Cheers
Alex
