You should definitely test drive a local MR2 before you commit, the gearbox is an acquired taste. It's not a conventional auto in that it has no torque converter and cannot shift gears automatically (the driver must always tell the gearbox when to change gears). I find it slow and clumsy so I'm not a fan but there are some people who really like it.

It's an automatic, it can just be sequentially shifted.

Hi All,

I don't own a MR2 but am going to be looking at one soon and test driving perhaps even purchasing. It's a 2002 model with the manual transmission which doesn't have a clutch (very strange) I have never driven a car with this transmission so have no idea what to expect or if I will even like it.

Can other members who have a similar car let me know what their experiences are using this system?

The car I'm looking at is listed on Carsales in Hobart very low kms, one owner asking $22000. is this a reasonable price if it really is in excellent condition? If not what would be a fair price?
