Will look into them. Thanks for the info. Were you happy with their service?

Thanks Reddtarga. I do have the air con on in winter and summer for the reasons that you have mentioned. Hence why I would like to get this sorted out.

Re: Competent Air Con in SE Melbourne (Reddtarga)

Although people probably know this, from what I have been told, it's important that the A/C should be run from time to time, even in mid winter.
Something about maintaining seals?
Re: Competent Air Con in SE Melbourne (dasic1)

Have you got this fixed yet?
There is a place call total automotive products in progress st Dandenong that specialises in aircon. For that any monkey with gas (with die) can do.
Air con lasts differently depending on how “full” they put the gas in, how much it’s used, and any issues (hence the die just so it’s easy to check over for any leaks).
Hopefully a few Melbourne owners can chime in as to where they go...

Re: Competent Air Con in SE Melbourne (mistar2)

Thanks Tony.
I have had the tx valve, evaporator and compressor replaced, along with o rings and the coloured gas put through to check for leaks.
Have spent 2 lots of $800 and 1 $1200 over a period of time and I would expect it to last a bit longer then 3 years before re gassing again. Has been serviced 3 times the last 10 years....initially cold but peters out after a few years.
Just want to find someone that will do the job properly.
Toyota would send it to the person that I used last....he no longer has the business and the new owner won't do it.
Re: Competent Air Con in SE Melbourne (Guest)

Side comment; ReGassing is not a full service that gets the system working at its peak (this is what most air con shops will offer).
Spend some simple spanner time can save costs, if your system is de-gassed, easy to clean evaporator (warm water and plain dishwashing liquid) and replace your tx valve (under $100 from supercheap). Can be done by undoing four bolts nuts under dash and two lines joints under .
Lots of online guides.
With the age of the mr2 air con, it makes a great performance difference in doing the above, for longevity replace the o rings, and dehumidifier (when air con guy re-gassing).

Competent Air Con in SE Melbourne (mistar2)

Can anyone recommend a place in Sth East Melbourne (Keysborough) I can safely take my car (SW20) to get the air con serviced?

TIA
