If seat covering is in reasonable condition remove seat. Remove steel plate from the four tension springs being bloody careful not to detach springs from seat frame. Cut piece of fairly dense foam rubber about 20mm bigger than steel plate. ( I have used about 15- 20mm thick foam). Turn foam 90 degrees so that the extra length is forward of plate.
Insert foam between plate and existing seat foam tucking the front up above the forward steel seat frame.
Reattach the four tension springs. No more saggy early model seat.
Not nearly as difficult as it sounds. I accept beer, tyres, spare parts etc.
Not advisable to swap passenger lower squab as they are handed and a fair [link=mailto:b#@*rd]b#@*rd[/link] to remove from frame.

I had a similar issue on a previous MR2 and looked into swapping the drivers/passengers - it's not an easy job, as the rails, base and seatbelt mechanisms are opposite. Ended up just swapping in a spare pair of seats.

I know MR2 Wreckers Australia have some seats in reasonable condition, at least there was a few available when I asked a couple of years ago...

I've never done it but couldn't you just get the base reupholstered?

99.99% sure the seats are different from each side.

You could always buy the base from amerca or europe, their passenger side is our drivers side.

I can't remember what the sw20 seats are like but could you buy a used passenger seat and swap over just the bit you sit on?

I have done this before in another car. Passenger seats are usually in pretty good condition.

Mine is the Jap import leather with reupholsterer in Artamon - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

A lot cheaper to get one from a wreckers or someone parting one out, that way you can get the right trim and possibly the right level of fade to match your other seat.

Just need to find one that has only had light bums on it!
