Hey Hoonsy, just a few quick notes: slotted rotors (You'll find RDA have plenty), good pads (like HPX), braided lines and new fluid/bled properly will give you what you're after.

Without going too in-depth about slotted rotors, one of their advantages is the 'slots' effectively 'shave' a layer off the brake pads (that's the easiest way to picture it) and reduce the chance of glazing.

Hoonsy, might be a good time to buy the QFM HPX brake pads. My rear A1RM pads arrived today. Might have more backing plates to make more up.

Yeah QFM take a very long time to make pads.

I have used yellowstuff on the track and street. I was pretty happy with them, however they are dusty.

The only disappointing thing about the DBA HD 4582 rotors (Front) is the paint protection peeled off the hat when I swapped the track rims to my daily set... rotors were only a few days old. It looks like the paint couldn't withstand the heat from the track day? I would be annoyed if I spent more on higher end DBA rotors and that had happened.

Just a quick note. If the QFM rear pads are out of stock (Dispatch time 5 days) apparently that could mean days, months or years according the blokes at Brakes Direct. A few of us have ordered pads (front and rear) in late July and early August and are still waiting (Note: The front pads arrived the next day from Brakes Direct, very quick postage). You can send your old rear pads to QFM for a faster turn around times but since we use our cars as daily drivers it's tough to have them off the road for a week or so.

I think regular rotors will be good enough. Either standard DBA or RDA will do for street. That's all I've ever used even for heavy track use. HPX pads are good. I've got them on my wrx daily. Tracked them once and they held up fine.

Lumix on these forums has used the DBA HD rotors on-track (but with QFM AR1M pads) and I'm pretty sure he said the same thing, so they definitely sound like they'll do the job

I have looked on eBay for DBA's gear but I honestly couldn't find the part numbers for RDA so I didn't try
Thank you heaps, definitely think I'll go for RDA fronts just so I can get that slotted front look ;)

Hi everyone,

Looking at upgrading my brake pads and rotors as I believe they are both due to be replaced soon. At the moment I have my eyes on the DBA HD Direct OE Replacement rotors for the front and rear (https://www.dba.com.au/products/street-heavy-duty/) and I'm looking at using QFM HPX pads front and rear

I feel like this will be an upgrade over old stock parts however for the price, is there anything better I should consider?
My car is a Gen3 3S-GTE - currently stock, plans to up the power slightly and daily driven with maybe infrequent track days/happy laps so nothing excessive or track-orientated is required

Also, it's not necessary but I was really keen on slotted rotors for the fronts (I love the look) but I cannot find a single manufacturer that make a 275mm slotted rotor that will fit the MR2. Any suggestions would be awesome!
