Might have to give rebuilding a go, just wanted to check my options before I pull it out of the car.

Re: (MG_MR2)

MR20LT
Hi all.

Digging this one up as my alternator has a tendency to want to work sometimes.

On the land cruiser options above, do these have the same round plugs as the 90 model JDM turbo with power steering? Does anyone have a toyota part number for that alternator, and which year model suits? Does the bracket line up well on these?

Alternatively I rebuild the faulty one on the car.

I have well and truly gone through the alternator saga you are asking about so will try save you going around the twist and share what I know.

Few viable options but to answer your question, the Land Cruiser alternator has an oval plug from memory but very easy/straight forward to get an oval to round adapter (as I do).

I actually pulled an alternator apart out of curiosity and cleaned/tested each component, replacing one component & putting in new brushes. Worked flawlessly ever since. Not a difficult process.

If you want more info, send me a PM and I can walk you through it. Depending where you’re located I’ve also got a couple of alternators, one being a new/rebuilt unit.

Re: (PocketRadzys)

MR20LT
Hi all.

Digging this one up as my alternator has a tendency to want to work sometimes.

On the land cruiser options above, do these have the same round plugs as the 90 model JDM turbo with power steering? Does anyone have a toyota part number for that alternator, and which year model suits? You could try doing a search for Land Cruiser alternators on the same site. Judging by the price of the MR2 alternator, a genuine Land Cruiser alternator is going to be very expensive.

https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/toyota-japan/mr2/SW20/152253/engine/1903

Edit: looks like people have already provided the part numbers for both alternators above. Still a good site for part numbers & ordering in general though.
Re: (MR20LT)

Hi all.

Digging this one up as my alternator has a tendency to want to work sometimes.

On the land cruiser options above, do these have the same round plugs as the 90 model JDM turbo with power steering? Does anyone have a toyota part number for that alternator, and which year model suits?
