I'll pm you shortly Steve.

Re: Wanting to swap from 3sge N/A to an inported 3sgte. (Steve_A)

You'll also need the turbo hubs and shafts to suit the e153 transmission. You can keep the NA s54 transmission but it can't hold anywhere near as much power.

Are you looking to make power? If you are I have an engine package that could be good for you. Forged 3sgte block, high flowed ct26 turbo, upgraded intercooler with hks bov and Power Fc ecu. It'll be available in a month or two.

Re: Wanting to swap from 3sge N/A to an inported 3sgte. (Bluewater)

Cheers Barry👍🏻
Got any more you wanna share about doing it. What's needed, is it as just as I've stated above and why do so many complain about it saying it will cost big $'s. All I see is the cost for the motor. Already quoted $2,500-$3,500 for the motor, ECU and the engines wiring loom. Doesn't cost me anything to do it. Retired engineer for both aircraft and vehicle's. So I'll be doing the work myself(well I'll probably con the son into doing most, tell him it's a learning experience, haha) but give me a run down if your able

Re: Wanting to swap from 3sge N/A to an inported 3sgte. It is relatively basic.

Wanting to swap from 3sge N/A to an inported 3sgte. (Zeus)

Gday all. Ok I have a MR2 G-limited with a 3SGE-NA motor. My question is, am I able to just import a 3SGTE, ecu, motor to ecu wiring loom? I'm fairly new to the MR2 and or any JDM cars. I have just fully replaced all running gear, bushes, added coilovers, heavy duty superpro swaybar link rods, cold air intake, added an upgrade extra strut brace to the engine bay. Next I want to lose the cheap ass canon boxes that are on it and sound like a dying cow, ordering Megan race, fully adjustable rear trailing arms, Tie rod ends, Front tension rods.
I come from the days of Holden V8's.(in my 40's) Ok now I know a few ppl with MR2's who say you can't put a turbo motor into a non turbo MR2,(which sounds ridiculous, but then I am new to JDM cars and have never worked on one other then the one I now own) then there are others that are saying yes I can. But will just need to get a 3SGTE imported motor with the turbo gear box, will also need to swap the engine ECU and the motor side wiring loom and that it? Now me I can't see it being a problem and seems pretty basic. Being that the G-Limited model is said from what I've read, to have all the features of the turbo model, less the Turbo motor,(not sure if that are correct. Feel free to correct me if wrong) so my question is
1. is it possible to do a turbo engine swap from a non turbo motor?
To me it seems a pretty straight forward swap with the turbo ECU and engine wiring loom. I probably just won't have the Dash turbo warning light. If there even is one. These are 26yr old cars I'm finding it hard to believe that it is rocket science to do this. Anyone with knowledge on this topic plz, be it Yes <feed my with what you know. or be it no's <just explain your reasoning, explain why and what problems there is.
Regards in advance
Z
