Its not a black art like some make out.

The oil feed direct to the head for the vvti is in the block. Any other S block would require stuffing around which would gain you nothing. The beams block would be stronger imho than any other 3s block.

3s cranks dont crack unless abused.

The beams rods arent suited for boost.

If you want to go this route i have a beams block head etc sitting around still.

Unfortunately i hit a funding brick wall with my project. But in short, redtop plenum is better, suits the bigger beams throttle body also, and just use the beams block if you plan to retain vvti. Just fit forged rods and pistons as per most turbo builds.

So… rather than offer advice on something I'm unsure of, what I'd suggest is that you do a search on the BEAMS forum. There have been some guys on there who've turboed their Red Tops, and many more who've thought about it, so you might find a few discussions which discuss the things you're trying to find out about.

My plan would be to build a turbo engine using the beams head as I have been told I can adapt the red or grey top beams head onto my gen 5 bottom end.
So I also was thinking of using the lower runners off the gen3 intake which can easily be adapted to a nice plenum.
Would the grey top inlet manifold flow well and hold up to boosted applications?

P.S. There's an intake manifold from a grey top BEAMS engine for sale on eBay. That will bolt straight on to a red top head.

I think they have different stud patterns, so they won't be compatible. They also have different part numbers. You can see them all listed here:

Hi Guys,

I have a quick question for the Beams gurus out there.

Does anyone know if a gen3 3SGE inlet manifold will or can be bolted to a red or grey top Beams head? I would just like to know before I go ahead and purchase a gen3 inlet manifold.
