If you get them out (have to drop the fuel tank) you can get it braised for $20 or something if you go to a radiator specialist.

This is a fairly well-known issue. I'm just sorry your mechanic did that so quickly without considering alternatives...

If I'd seen this post before I would've offered to drive over from SA, bring all the tools necessary and do it for you for half that amount myself.
Re: Water leaks (redboy)

Thanks for the invite Shaz. Wish I'd spoken to you guys earlier. My wife is not happy. I live in the Blue Mountains and Mr2s are extremely rare and no body knows their quirks. I've had mine for 10 years and don't plan to part with it until I'm too old to get in to it. I value your expert opinion and I am sure this is not the last thing I will need help with. By the way, if after pressure testing the cooling system and the radiator fails, how much would you think I would have to spend on a new on? thanks in advance.
Re: Water leaks (TomsMR2)

I'm with Falcon that's just nuts, it's an easy repair and they will give out again as it is a design flaw

Re: Water leaks (Falcon)

NO - NO Shoot the mechanic. Cancel the order. Shoot him again.
Where are you located ? They can be brazed.
Re: Water leaks (redboy)

You Guys are awesome. The 2 copper water pipes that run on top of the petrol tank, but under the body from back to front are cracked and leaking. Can I get replacement pipes? or is there another solution. At the moment all of the underneath of my car including the petrol tank is on my mechanics floor. Help!
