I used Sikaflex 258 on some new mounts to beef them up. It was the hardest stuff I could find on the shelf at Bunnings at 7pm on the night I decided to do it lol.

The heating up tip sounds like a good one, as it becomes hard work if you have a full set of mounts to do.

First clean out the voids in the mounts. I used a Dremel to clean up any 'casting flash'. Then I used a small pipe cleaner to loosen particles on the surface of the mounts, then water and compressed air to finish cleaning and drying.

Lay the Sikaflex (or equiv) into the voids with a stack of small 'beads' to ensure there are no air gaps in the voids. I fillled from half way up on one side, then flipped the mount and filled from the other side. Put some dishwasher liquid on your finger to smooth out the urethane once applied (urethane won't stick to your finger that way). A step further would be chuck a bolt through the centre of the mount and put the bolt in a drill (I used a lathe chuck). Spin it slowly and apply pressure with your finger to smooth out the urethane (obviously do so at your own risk - could lose a finger or worse). If done right the mounts will look like a factory solid mount. Scrape & wipe off excess with the appropriate stuff. Let it dry and install.

I used Sikaflex 252 for my engine mount, works beautifully. It is difficult to get out of the tube though I reccomend heating it up before you do it.

Thats the stuff to use if you want to remake your engine mounts. I did this and it made 3 engine mounts. And there was a bit left over.
I just did the back ones of 3 cars. It helped eliminate a lot of the rock you get in your aw11 or aw11 supercharged or turbo starlet.

Did this on my AW11 and it lasted about 12 months with some track days and the mounts started to let go again, so YMMV. Recasting them in a harder durometer polyurethane is a better long term solution, IMHO.

There are proper mount inserts (kirasaurus or something like that) worth the money in my opinion, I bought from the USA.

I have had a set for years and love them, engine is firm without added vibration, makes you feel very connected to the drivetrain

Cheers for the shoutout on sikaflex, I think I might go the middle ground and do Sikaflex 252! I've got some spare mounts at home so I'll update once they cure at home. Thanks for that!

For those who have filled their mounts in their sw20 (or any other car really) with polyurethane, what stuff did you use and where did you get it?

In the States people seem to just use 3m windo-weld which is about shore a60, anything of that hardness or so would be great.

Not super keen on the super tough shore a80+ flexane as I think it would kill daily-ability, this is really just a way to make the dodgy mounts less jumpy.
