I wouldn't buy anything till its checked out and diagnosed. If you have a misfire the cylinder doing it should have a black plug, the others should be brown. Need to take them all out and compare color. Best to find a GOOD garage and have them check it out. See if you can pull some ecu codes, I don't know about the gen4 engines but the gen3's you can just bridge the diagnostic port and see the flashes on the dash.
Re: misfiring / white smoke (Vadim)

I did it and could not find any trouble. Light brown color/ maybe I wil rev the engine a bit and have a closer look. My main concern is turbocharger. If the coolant leaks through it somewhere as the turbo integrated in downpipe and quite hard to find a replacement.
Re: misfiring / white smoke (track_mr2)

Take the spark plugs out and see what they look like. Garage will be able to tell you if head gasket is leaking, they will do a pressure test and see if coolant comes out the exhaust.
misfiring / white smoke (Vadim)

Hi guys. Could you help me please. I have MR2 with 3s gte gen4 engine. Couple weeks ago while standing and idling after a good run I noticed a white smoke. I stopped the engine and turn it on again - smoke's gone. This time I was setting new audio unit and turning engine on and off a few timesIi noticed kind of misfiring. I unplug coils one by one, it made it only worse so it is probably not coils/spark plugs. I've been suggested to unplug 2 sensors next to throttle body so i did and could not find any difference in RPM and it started to smoke again the higher RPM the more smoke looks like burning coolant. I also added fresh 10 lt 98 fuel. The engine running like a misfiring. Also I noticed every time after the engine start it works 2-3 sec properly and than rpm drops. What this could be? Is this the time to change a head gasket or may be something wrong with turbo. I believe engine has done under 100k as it taken from 60k Caldina 3 years ago by ex-owner. Just asking your suggestion before buying a headgasket kit and getting into engine. Also could you recommend a good mechanic in Parramatta-Blacktown area?
