Impact wrenches are very useful, especially for loosening stubborn fasteners, but you should never use an impact wrench to tighten something critical. There is no way of knowing how tight the fastener is unless you check it afterwards with a hand tool, ideally a torque wrench, so what's the point of using the impact wrench in the first place. There's a very good chance of over-tightening a fastener with an impact wrench, which might be what you did (and/or oil starvation factors as mentioned).

First you say cam oil blockage, now you're saying the type of tool did it.

If i didn't know better, i'd say it looks like that lobe was overtightened and was getting hot every time it was run, causing expansion and the starvation of sufficient lubrication.

You're lucky they are sending you a free camshaft to replace it!

Another cause for the broken cam is that I use an small impact wrench on that cam went putting it together. Power-Division just email me and stated do not use impact tools on cams. That would have caused my damage.

Power-Division from the US are going to send a free replacement cam. Now I'm happy again.

Found the problem Journal 1 was starved of oil. Must of had a blockage in the CAM.

These cams have been running in this engine for over 5000 kms, Have been told by power-disivion in the US that misfires and launch control can over stress cams. I will pull the cam out tonight to see what happen. and take photo to send to the US for inspection.

Could the bolt that secures the cam gear have been too long (or the cam threaded hole too short) which broke the end off?

Or did this happen in a running engine?

It was running - he was driving to the track when it happened....

I spoke with the owner of Power-division in the us. I'm sending picture of the broken cam and he want to confirm and check out the cam. He say he would send a replacement free of charge, It's a waiting game now, to if this happens.

I will follow it up later today. I know of a set of stock Gen 3 cams waiting for a home.
