I've been a mechanic for over a decade, there is no need at all to buy these parts genuine.
When you look back through the actual manufacturer of the parts, %90 of the time OEM parts are manufactured by the same people that are selling them as aftermarket.

Fuelmiser has been around for a long time, though you'd likely find their O2 sensors are just rebranded Bosch/NTK/Denso etc anyway. Not that I've ever had a DOA O2 sensor, nor have I ever had to warrant a failed one.

It's not uncommon to have cut and crimp the original plug onto a new O2 sensor. The other option is to buy suitable bosch EFI plug, and just change the plug on the harness side to suit.

You may possibly get a better fit with OEM leads, but in 15 years I've never had an issue with AM leads, aside from the really cheap ones you get 'off the rack' at auto stores, If you stick with Bosch, Eagle, NGK, MSD etc and avoid Top Gun, you'll never have an issue.

Okay so I've got a brand new OEM rotor ordered from Victoria, and I'm looking at ordering a Bosch GD921 Distributor Cap as I can pick one up for $52 from AllPartsAutomotive.com.au, compared to the ridiculous price from Amayama (price went up to $88).

Now I'm looking at picking up a new o2 sensor, and ditching the spark leads. I'm pretty sure my leads are fine. The guy that sold me the rotor can do me a used o2 sensor (in good/working cond.) for about $100, and I've found a few sites that can supply a brand new one for $150+. Am I going to have to suck it up and pay the $150 or am I getting jibbed?

So I looked into Autobarns catalogue and found 3 Fuelmiser brand o2 sensors that are supposed to fit. Unfortunately they don't come with a plug, so you have to wire them up to the factory plug (that shouldn't be too out of my league?). I think it's worth doing, as I'll be saving nearly $100 ordering it from them. Can anyone speak for the brand, is it cheap for a reason?

Okay so a Denso O2 4 Wire O2 sensor has been ordered from FREEDOM *eagle screech*-land (USA), to which I'll have to crimp the OEM connecting plug onto. Decided to go Denso as Fuelmiser didn't seem like a quality brand, plus it turned out to be cheaper despite awful conversion rates + ridiculous shipping than ordering a sensor locally.
Along with that, I've also ordered a Bosch Distributor Cap GD921. That'll be a straight fit.

So keep your eyes peeled, cause in 2-3 weeks, I'll be making another thread about how my cheap eBay parts don't fit/car runs worse than before. Then, and only then, can you begin the "Amayama.com d*ckhead"/"I told you so" posts

1 x oil filter
1 x fuel filter
1 x distributor cap
1x rotor button
1x ignition coil

everything fits and works perfectly

You wouldn't happen to have a receipt still would you? I was looking at their products but I wanted to make sure the numbers match up

If you look at the oxygen sensor your should see either 1 wire or 4 wires running into it. I'm pretty sure that the Gen 3's will be a 4 wire as they are on the Gen 3 3sgte's.
I couldn't tell you how to test without a wideband oxy sensor. I think the BGB may tell you how to test?

Need to pick up a BGB sometime then haha. I'm getting the replacement part sorted out from my local Toyota (just a quote) but I'll Google a test I can do. I know you can do some sort of torch/multimeter trick to test the voltage and make sure it's working right, but I'll need to pick up a torch for that

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm not trying to cheap out, I was just checking to see if there's other sites people use to shop around. Don't have much of an income since there's no apprenticeships going around atm but I have some savings, just trying to make it last is all.

Edit: Figured I'd ask here rather than start a new thread. I'm starting to think my o2 sensor could be a big cause of the poor fuel economy - what kind of sensor does the Gen 3 3SGE run? Is it one of the 1 wire o2, or the 4? I don't know too much about them but I wanna test it and see if that needs replacing also

If you need parts urgently goto your local Toyota Dealer. Expect to pay 3 times more than you would with Amayama (I'm not kidding). If the local dealership has to get them ex Japan, then your better off getting them from Amayama anyway as the wait will be similar.

I got a heap of new parts to refresh my front suspension. $300 delivered from Amayama. I called up the local Toyo and it would have cost me upwards of $900 for the exact same parts. Even then, they had to obtain the parts from Japan still which is a 6-8 week wait I think. Don't forget - you have a MR2, not a commodore. Parts will never come super cheap like other makes & models. Its the price you pay for performance and a car that didn't sell in the millions.

Also, you can state on Amayama's site your dealing in AUD currency to get a more relevant price. Then you don't need to worry about currency conversion. It just takes a little time to find out the shipping cost by submitting an order.

For the early model 3SGE genuine plug leads I found the local Toyota dealer quoted well over $300 while from Amayama the cost was about $130 AUD including shipping.
Was certainly worth waiting a couple of weeks to get them, along with saving a couple of hundred dollars
On the other hand the distributor cap was another story. I can't remember where I got mine but it was much cheaper than Amayama. May not have been genuine Toyota but probably just as good.

Hoonys, TonyMR2 is right you can't expect to get something for nothing, wouldn't it cost more in your time "shopping around"? just saying... I'd go to your local Toyota dealership most service items are in Sydney warehouse beats waiting on Amayama I paid, waited 4 weeks and got told "parts weren't available we will have to partially refund your order" (no refund on shipping difference BTW) then waited a further 3 weeks! for my partially complete order to arrive.

Prices are cheap, go to your Toyota dealership and get a quote. Or look on eBay.

No amayama does not include shipping" you submit your request, takes about three days for the, to confirm stock, they update with shipping.

The parts are cheap for how long between service changes for those items. I wouldn't go standard leads and I wood spend more but that's just me.

Does anyone know if the quoted price on Amayama includes shipping? I converted it to AUD, and it'll cost me about $205 AUD, but if that's not including shipping, it's going to get rather expensive

Edit: Toten, if you happen to have your Toyota contact number on hand, could you post it for me? I just want to inquire and see if I can get a better price
