Do you really think they are any different to Facebook, Google etc?
Regarding ads, if I am going to see them at all, if prefer them to be relevant to me. If I want to look at questionable stuff, I start an in private browsing session in IE.
The only place that I can guarantee privacy online is this site. I have been asked to sell data a couple of times. I of course refused. 😊

Re: Windows 10 free upgrade (Flighter)

http://theconversation.com/windows-10-is-not-really-free-you-are-paying-for-it-with-your-privacy-45593

Re: Windows 10 free upgrade (MCT_MR2)

Quad core i5, 16gb ram, 4gb dedicated graphics, and dual ssd in raid0. Both PCs in my office have been upgraded from 8.1 to 10 with no issues at all. It's all good.
Re: Windows 10 free upgrade (Admin)

MCT_MR2
10 is alrite. Free upgrade made my computer run slow as ****. Had to do a fresh install and now its fine. Also have to be careful what settings are enabled.

It sounds like you need a SSD. My PC is 6 years old and has run 7, 8.1 and 10 without any performance issues.
Make sure you have 4GB of RAM or more and a SSD makes an unbelievable amount of difference to performance.
Re: Windows 10 free upgrade (Admin)

Bradm
Think I'll stick with Win7, give 10 a few years to have all of its problems sorted and to decide if I like the way it functions. 8 was an epic fail, Not holding my breath for 10 to be any good.

How do you know 8 was an epic fail if you haven't tried it?
Re: Windows 10 free upgrade (maj)

Win8 was great once you disabled Metro and went back to the classic start screen. 10 is better but need to disable a lot of the privacy features.

Also for OEM's it's going to take time to catch up with drivers anyway. My Sony Vaio was missing a few drivers for stupid stuff like the card reader etc. Both graphics cards were up to date but Sony has a proprietary software switch on them so I couldn't use any battery saving features until they come to the party.

If you are running 7 and have no urgency to update, just stay where you are for now. Or even image your install, install win10 (tell it to delete files while it updates so you have a fresh install) then image it and go back to win7, that way you can switch between them quickly and not have to worry about the activation period running out on the free win10 upgrade. This is what I did.
Re: Windows 10 free upgrade (MCT_MR2)

10 is alrite.
