There's a lot of knowledge that comes into play and you can't really 'just wing it' like other cars.
Re: Need some wheels/tire advice (rikkir)

The boots do fall apart with age...
I've only been an MR2 owner myself for just over a year, so I'm pretty new to the scene too. The guys on this forum are fantastic, and have helped me a lot. I tend to ask for people's thoughts before I do anything on my MR2, because they have the knowledge and experience.

Re: Need some wheels/tire advice (Hoonsy)

Okay, thank you heaps Rick, really appreciate the help mate. I just needed someone with the same specs to verify, been so keen to get this going but keep hitting obstacles. Also made the weirdest discovery while checking out my tires; the boot for the two front struts are shredded up into rings. Don't know if it's going to cause any issues. And all my tires are 205/55.. I thought MR2s were meant to have staggered sets. Odd.

I'll update this tomorrow maybe and update how it goes; hopefully all is well.
Re: Need some wheels/tire advice (rikkir)

215/40 pic (as best i could manage) has plenty of clearance...
Re: Need some wheels/tire advice (Hoonsy)

Here you can see the top of the Advan tire scrubbing against the strut. Turns out the specs are 235/45
So if I go 215/40, will that definitely clear?
Just need to be 100% sure cause I can't afford to get the new tires then not have them fit again

Edit:

Just wanted to add that this isn't properly on the hub or anything, this is jacked up in the air trying to put the wheel on and there's where it makes contact
Re: Need some wheels/tire advice (Hoonsy)

Do the 215/40 fronts just tuck under the front struts? Cause you may have been lucky with it.

Asked on a FB page and someone replied saying the tire will be mildly stretched and it'll throw the speedo out. Didn't think it'd affect it on a front tire though
