BTW, the part number for the dist cap for the Gen 2 motor is 19101-88363.
The rotor P/N is 19102-74040

Ah okay thank you about Al Palmer, I've heard about the shop and I wanted to confirm their success with MR2's. I'll check them out. What became a turn off was when I was quoted a price of the leads. One warehouse quoted me 169 and a Repco store quoted me 239?? Are the ignition parts really expensive for the MR2?

Amayama should be cheapest for a genuine Toyota lead set, even with shipping.

From memory an aftermarket rotor will be about $10-15 and the cap probably between $25-40.

I'd take the cap off and inspect it before buying new ones though. The 3sgte engine seems to eat dizzy caps but not sure what the NA is like.

Actually check the dizzy cap before buying the leads, if the terminals are heavily worn on the inside it could be causing your misfire.

You should be able to get the leads a bit cheaper then that. You just need to confirm exactly which set you need.

Might be a simple fix by fitting new spark plug leads, dizzy cap and rotor button.

Hello everyone! I just bought myself a 1990 N/A MR2 but is running rough at the moment due to the lack of acceleration from misfiring. I've replaced the spark plugs and that has alleviated the misfire severeness a bit when I first got it but still needs work. The misfire is intermittent and if anyone has experienced this before in their MR2, please help? I really want this MR2 back on the road with smooth driving but I'm just afraid it might be a bit more of a serious problem. Also, I am located around the Penrith area. If anyone can help me out by taking a look at my car or refer me to mechanics around my area that has a great deal of experience and actually love working on MR2's, I would highly appreciate the support!
