1990 SW20 timing belt tensioner. (Sweetchilliphilly)

So my poor mr2 has a blown head gasket and I'm in the process of replacing it, however I was expecting to have a hydraulic timing belt tensioner but it turns out I have the spring type tensioner. The repair manual I'm using doesn't mention anything about the spring type tensioner, so my nooby question is; how do I get the spring type tensioner off? Thanks!
