(Carmikey)

Im currently running 215/40/17 around on one of my track adubs, without any scrub issues, the other im planning on running same front but 235/40 on the rear. By looks I think it has the clearance in need, regarding offset.
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (Mrskylighter)

My AW11 had 17s on it when I bought it. Wasn't rock hard at all and seemed to handle okay.
Then I put 15s on it and it was a huge improvement. Tyres are cheap too :)

FYI, the 17s from your sw20 probably aren't going to work very well on the AW11. The side wall will be too tall and probably hit the spring perch (assuming you're using stock struts and not coilovers)
Mine had 205/35/17s front and rear which worked with standard height springs.
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (Knightrous)

The money you will save by sharing tires with your SW20 will be cancelled out by the sadness/cost of having a sub par handling car.
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! Im trying to use same tires as I run on my SW20. I have 2 full sets of 17' semi's, didnt want to purchase a set of 15 or 16' rim + another set of semis.
Wife is going bonta as it is...
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (Carmikey)

Thanks Aaron, slightly off the subject, do you happen to know what the stock rim offset is on aw11? would rims with a +48 fit with standard struts?
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (Knightrous)

For a cheap upgrade, install some blacktop 20v pistons into the silver top. This gives you ~11.3:1 compression, a good boost over the stock 10.5:1. Fit an ECU and cams and you'll be punching out some tidy figures in no time :)
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (Carmikey)

Silvertop, stock to mild rebuild, Im hoping to just throw a re-ring, bearing & VRS kit thru it. But who knows till you actually pull it down.

Will try get it out this week.

Thanks for the info guys.
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (Knightrous)

What 20V do you have, Silvertop or Blacktop?
What are your goals for the motor? Stock rebuild, mildly tuned or all out race built?

For majority of your service and rebuild parts(pistons, rings, gaskets, oil pump, timing belts, etc etc), source the Toyota part numbers and then hit up www.amayama.com for the parts. They are cheap and pretty quick at getting the parts (no 4-6 weeks from Japan BS).

Aftermarket parts are all dependant on what your goals and budget it.
Several companies make aftermarket pistons.
Kelford Cams NZ is probably one of the better places for 20V camshafts and springs.
SQ Engineering has a bunch of good auxilary parts (COP plates, velocity stacks).
Re: Second AW11 track car in the prepping!! (B24)

Sounds like a plan. Knightrous may be able to help with the right bits. You could also by a V6 3.0 manual and throw it in. Knightrous could also help you there.
From what I saw, it does not look like its too much hassle.
