what valve springs were you using?

New OEM springs

The cost of a new set of valves isn't much. I wouldn't risk using them. You could end up paying a lot more than what they are worth if they are faulty.

I was always of the understanding that all the brian crower valves were made by supertech, and you even still find the supertech emblem on the valve stem.

hmmm, so this being said. is there a way to test a set of valves for hardness? ie:take them to a metallurgist? or is there a process one could put them through to harden them.

reason being, I got some comp+ valves for the beams head, thinking issue was only with a batch of sport 6000s....

what valve springs were you using?

Ferrea have definitely had a number of reported problems for a while now. If people ask for valves for the 3S, I sell them Brian Crower now. Definitely much better quality.

I have Ferrea in my own car and thankfully nothing wrong yet (been in there 30k kms now), but I certainly wouldn't go with them again given the issues.

Yes that will tell you if you have a problem or not. At least the problem isn't terminal for the engine.
It's still a pain in the 8rse to pull the head off and put different valves in.
FYI I left the Ferrea exhaust valves in because the clearances will all still within specification.

Im keeping my fingers crossed that mine are ok. Just got my car running again today, its only done 600km. Might check the clearances again now.

It happened to me recently and my engine builder saw the same thing with a Supra head last week so, - confirmed.

I'm not sure if this is or isn't the case but why risk it? Just go with something that has no reported issues.

With Ferrea not communicating with the retailer or the purchaser - who knows. And with that sort of product support why would you even bother.

2 simple reasons -

The material in Ferrea inlet valves is too soft. They end up deforming and causing your valve clearance to decrease and eventually the valves will be held open by the cam and you will have no compression and will not be able to start your car.
Their customer service is non-existent. They ignore all communication about the problem described above.

This is what the deformation looks like on the Comp+ inlet valves after only a few thousand Kms of use -

There are LOADS of other people reporting this exact same issue on other forums and when I picked up my head after having replacement Supertech valves fitted, my engine builder said he had just finished repairing a Supra head with exactly the same issue. This is obviously not a one-off occurrence.
The faulty Ferrea valves I had were Comp+ which are supposedly free from this issue - most people report the issue with the Ferrea 6000 series valves.
The company I bought these from (ATS) have provided great customer service to me and are incredibly responsive to my emails about this. They have been chasing Ferrea about this too and Ferrea are ignoring them in the same way that they are ignoring me. I even sent the faulty valves back to ATS and they sent them to Ferrea for analysis. There has been no response from Ferrea to date. That was more than 2 months ago.
I rarely put down companies on the Internet though I have given Ferrea many many many chances to respond and they have failed to acknowledge their faulty product and in my eyes are thieves, as they can't even admit their fault.
The failure of the Ferrea valves has cost me well over $1000 in repair costs, and I do most of my work myself. This amount would be much more if I paid a mechanic to work on my car.
I was never after any compensation. All I wanted was an acceptance of fault from Ferrea and an apology.
