I must be losing a bit of time through the sweeper. I have to top 3rd gear to hit 150 and I know I wasn't doing that.

I had decent speed through the chicane though. Really enjoy pushing it there. Brake just before the 50m marker and turn in with a zero counter slide. Full throttle once I reached the transition from left to right and gas all the way out onto the concrete near the wall. Was hitting the 5500 rpm acis point just on the exit.

Turn 2 was fun too. The camber made it feel like nascar.

Wakefield i find more challenging, but after this years MTC i feel like Wakefield and Winton are both my home tracks.

Yeah I like that sweeper too, I get around that at about the same speed on Federal RSR's. I haven't tried some proper semi slicks yet but would love to see how much of a change it makes to the corner speed through the high speed corners.
If you like that corner you'd love Philip island, most of the corners are high speed.

I'm keen to head to winton for an open practice day or something. I haven't been to a track for a year now because all my money keeps going on other stuff but should be right to head out in the next few months though would be fun to head out with a few of you guys if your keen. Drop me a message next time your going and i'll try to make it out. I don't go out too hard though, just out for a bit of fun mainly because of the costs. haha I drop heaps of time through the chicane at Winton though I only take it at 80% so there is no chance of tagging that wall.

Yeh the smooth flow of Winton makes it suitable for the MR2. I find the final chicane a bit easier than turn 3&4 of Wakefield since it is slower but driving up against the wall really gets the blood going! Feels really good when you nail the sweeper because your survival reactions will always fight to keep you to the inside mid corner when you should go wide and then cut thru the super late apex setting up for the next turn.

Winton definitely flows nicer. Final chicane is an absolute killer corner. Sweeper is challenging. And all the late apex corners really let you take advantage of the mr2s corner exit rear traction. Didn't get any vids though. Too busy marshalling and driving!

Fish hook sucks. Pain in the arse.

I think your motorbike tale is one for the next track day challenge.

Yeh Winton is a good track, smooth and flows well, but wakie can def hold its own with the kink and fish hook too. Did u catch any vids?

Drove my mates relatively stock MX-5 NA gotta say that thing is quite a lot of fun very easy to manipulate the controls. Ken was there too with the 33 his rear tyres were bulging out after 2 sessions lol (who puts 50psi cold...). There were a few crazy drivers (bad) out there but for $40 can't beat dat value.
BEAMS stayed at home to watch the house.

woulda liked to come Sunday but I had organised a bike cruise, my first as well as first time going sideways which on a motorbike means i slid but that is a tale for another time...

anyways let us know when u hit up Winton again 😊

Haha cheers fellas. I felt so much more at home at Winton than I do at Wakefield. Just my kinda track I guess. So much fun I'm still buzzing. I might be back in November to have a crack at a 40 or 39.

I intend to break into the 11s this Saturday at Wakefield. See how we go.

Nice time Adrian! now you need to go faster at Wakey as you only have a .5 second gap there but are over a second faster at Winton.

Yeah I stayed with Kev on Friday and Saturday while I was visiting Melbourne. He shaparoned me around town and showed me the sites and sounds. Top bloke. Old mate from uni. How do you know him?

I gave it one last red hot go at the end of the day and finished up with a high 41. Super happy with the result. Winton was an absolute blast. Sooo jealous of you Melbournians. Most fun I've had on a track since I was at Spa last year.

heard you did a 41 Adrian, thats pretty friggin quick. My mate Kevin (white DC5R) told me you were tearing it up. He managed to get a 45 in which isnt bad for a stock DC5R too!
