Talk to Adam Ronke at Tampered Motorsport. He runs a bunch of trackdays at Winton as well as building a few cars. He has a contact not far from the track who is not expensive and does great work. He installed most of the weld-in cages for the Nissan Pulsar challenge cars. Cost was around $1200.
I would say stick with CDS cage instead of the CroMo units.
If you are looking to fit new uprights make sure you replace the bearings and the hubs. Good insurance.
If you are going for a wild engine, there are high spec axles available in the US. If you are looking for 200-230 rwkw, I am sure some second hand units will be quite ok. I am yet to here of anyone breaking these. But, you will need CroMo axle cages as these do break when you have some grip and a tight diff.
Doug from Qld builds the hybrid gearboxes. Nice addition for your circuit car.
Go with 'water to air' intercooling too. You will never look back.
Gearbox and engine cooler are also a must.

Come along to the trackday challenge in 2015. You will pick up a lot of info over the two days.

Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (nickosw20)

It is going to be a circuit car.

Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (Eric)

What sort of racing are you prepping this for? I was told it was out of a low k import! yeah right An import that was running 40 psi with a crap load of advance and a huge turbo lol so all I really scored was a few good bolt on hks parts that really haven't balanced out the full rebuild haha woops. Definitely not the first and won't be the last idiot haha.

So not really keen on interstate buying again. However did meet an awesome engine builder if anyone needs one in the future. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (MCT_MR2)

+1 for the guys at fabraications.

Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (kameleon)

+1 Fabraications
Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (WIDEMR)

Speak to Greg at Fabraications in Braeside. www.rollcages.com.au
Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (dasic1)

He's in vic
Also check this thread out http://www.mr2australia.c./mr2play/tm.aspx?m=96461
Re: technical information race prepping sw20 (WIDEMR)

Regarding roll cage, what state are you in?
technical information race prepping sw20 (nickosw20)

Hi guys I am about half way through race prepping my 1992 sw20 it was a n/a and I have brought a gen 3 3sgte and gen2 box I am now after drive shafts and hubs. My question is what hubs will fit and drive shafts I know their is some differences in the n/a ones to the turbo ones not including obviously the strength. It is proving a little hard to source the last few pieces of the puzzle if any one could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Also does anyone know of any fabrication shops that are competent on installing a camms approved cages in sw20's. Thanks guys.
