James race engines is ok, but at times can charge like a pirate.

If cost isnt really an consideration saliba engine reconditioners are one of the best around - they do the heads for a lot of the v8 supercars and had a lot or arc rally clients.

Re: Engine rebuild (MR2QIK)

3S based stroker with gtx3071 would be awesome. I used to have similar setup a while ago with a .7 gt3037 & it spooled/responded really nicely. GTX3071 would be as good if not better.

Re: Engine rebuild (dylmrt)

Let me know if you need parts. Can definitely help supply them like we did for dasic1.
Re: Engine rebuild (ashtwo)

Thanks dasic, I'll try them too, always good to get a few quotes. Berwick is pretty close by too so that could work well

Re: Engine rebuild (ashtwo)

Thanks for that trackmr2 I'll give those guys a call

I'd be reusing my 3s block and machining the 5s crankshaft to accept the rods, am not aiming for massive HP so the 3s block will be fine. It will predominantly be a street car with occasional track use, so driveability is a priority over peak hp. At the moment I'm thinking a gtx3071 with 0.64 a/r although it may be a bit overkill for the street, still a bit indecisive on that.

The other option is just stay with a 2L build paired with 264 cams and a gtx2867, that should get me a reliable 220rwkw which should still be quite quick, only thing is if I'm sinking a reasonable sum into it I don't want to regret not going bigger to start with!

Re: Engine rebuild (dasic1)

Blackwell Race Engines in Berwick did my stroker. Very happy with him. He can be a bit hard of to contact over the phone.

I also use him for my race engines in the HQ

I supplied him with all the parts that I got through Gorilla industries.
Re: Engine rebuild (track_mr2)

For machine work I have used Crankshaft Rebuilders and James Race Engines. I find both exceptional.
Re: Engine rebuild (MR2QIK)

I'm sure Trav & the likes would know of one or two. Will you be using a 5S bottom end of a 3S with 2.2L crank?
Engine rebuild (ashtwo)

Anyone recommend a decent machine shop in Melbourne?
I'm considering building a 2.2L stroker with 264 cams, eagle rods, cp pistons etc. just need to work out all the costs and would like to know I can trust the people working on the motor as I've had bad experiences in the past. Will be doing the assembly myself.

Thanks
