Street/track car build (DVS_MR2)

It would be easier to purchase a half cut for the engine conversion and you might even manage to get coil overs in the process.. I have a Boarder/tom's body kit for sale if of interest.
http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=109000

Re: BATHURST EDITION TURBO CONVERSION! Street/track car build (B24)

Its great to see another MR2 being prepped for circuit work. If you are interested in helping in the development of the 'MR2 Cup car' (something I have been mulling over the last few years), I'm happy to work with you.
It doesn't matter which way you will go(your car or another one), you will still be upgrading and tuning the same parts.
I started a thread in race and rally section with some idea's on ways to approach these types of builds.

Just on the short list you have:
I have a contact for cheap CDS roll cages. Based in Northern Victoria. Can have one fitted for $1000. He has been building all the Nissan Pulsar Cup cars. I had a drive for the organizer of the series in March. He offer to help out with cages for MR2's of required. Do NOT mount the cage the floor pan. Its a big mistake. does nothing for improvements to the chassis and will burst through the floor in a accident, will tear our in a side impact. Total waste of time.
As long as the harness is up to CAMS standards and 10 years or less, you can use it for any competition events you will be eligible for. Highly recommend a 5 or 6 point. The 4 point are ok but not a fan of these. If you fit the cage, you can have a bar fitted to mount the cage.
Contact the Spax distributor for coilovers. I had a talk with him and Rick Shaw (Aust Prod Sports Champion in SW20, ex V8SC, Aston Martin Works driver at Nurburgring and a bunch of other efforts) about a set for the MR2 which can be used for a series (MR2 Cup). Cost is under 1500 and will be better than anything else out there. Rick will do the on track set up so it will be a cornering weapon out of the box. There are cheaper options which are great value, but Spax offer excellent aftermarket support.
Talk to Travis/Kameleon at Delta V for upgrade kits. These are great value and very well made. This allows the GTST calipers to be fitted to the SW20 hub. The rear allows for RX7 discs with standard caliper. Amisavoy and Highlander run these to great effect.
The standard strut brace would be fine for the time being.
Improving the bump steer and roll centres would be of more benefit than strut braces and chassis braces.

Best of luck!

BATHURST EDITION TURBO CONVERSION! Street/track car build (96bathmr2)

As the title states I'm looking at doing a turbo conversion on my 96 Bathurst MR2.

I will be needing every part to do this.

I think it might be easier getting a whole car and doing it that way? Or am I waisting my time and I'm better off buying a complete GT?

Also looking for fixed back race seat with rails
Roll cage
Harnesses
Coil overs
Upgraded brakes
Strut braces
Front quater panels (left and right side)
Toms style body kit

And hopefully a bit of guidance from someone who has done the same :)

Thanks guys

Benny
