My recommendations (price/rarity order):
1. OEM - TYPE III-V (Generation 3+) shifter
2. TRD short shifter
3. C's short shifter (discontinued)

I currently have the C's short shifter in both my cars and I'm very happy with it. Prior to that I had B&M and found it hard to get into gears at times.

I Added a eBay short shifter years ago to mine and haven't had any problems

My SW20 already had rev 3 gear lever (sweet!) and then I added the Two's R Us short shifter plate. Very short throw but me likely
Mrskylighter sounds like mishap with your engine judging by sig?

I did the same rev1 to rev 3 swap as Dudeman in my sw20 and like it. I actually installed another rev 3 shifter into my AW11 which was a fantastic upgrade.

I swapped my rev1 shift for a rev3 and I find that to be a nice size to use. Some kits I have read about are ridiculously short and don't get good reviews.
