It has been 8 months since the last update. That flew by..
Things are moving slowly but still moving. The main point being the undertray from front bumper to engine bay has been completed. May have it secured into place this week. Maybe..
Finally fabricated, fitted, painted the side intakes. These are fibreglass, made from scratch, first attempt. Another job I have been wanting to do for 5 years.
All the engine parts are now here, in the workshop, waiting in line to have it assembled. It is expected at the end of May, but can never guarantee it.
Will have an update when it happens.

Thank mate. I will still be moving forward with the full undertray with some removable panels to get it through scrutineering.
I have moved over to a different piston so there is another delay on the engine build. Im expecting these to be ready in 6 weeks but this can easily blow out as it has done many times before. Not too fussed. Will get there one day!

Good progress. Don't forget that you can only have the OEM flat floor between the front and rear axles if you are going to compete in time attack open class. You can get strengthened OEM panels from MR2 Heaven. This is what I have on my car.

Just a little update. The car is still yet to be run at a track even with the current restrictions it would still be keeping the driveway warm..
Turns out the engine was in a pretty bad state due to some poor assembly by the engine builder and a issue with lifters due to cam profiles. The OEM lifter was not able to deal with the cams which caused four to fail. There were a number of other problems which has resulted in the engine removed, dismantled and now being rebuilt.
I have moved the the Ford motorsport lifter which is proven with a bigger cam and higher rpm in the same geometry engine as the 2GR. These drop straight in which is a win.
Have also moved to the 2UZFE titanium inlet valve (Lexus 5.0 litre V8) which retaining the inconel OS exhaust valve.
I have also ditched the dual valve spring in favour of a 'Kelford' beehive spring/titanium retainer which has been developed for the 2GR.
The heads are also to be replaced as the existing heads were 'over ported' for NA application. They are right for turbo/booted engines but not NA. Basically the exhaust ports are just too big, inlet are just fine. I will be selling these off in the near future.
Bottom end is not damaged so just new rings and bearings then back together.
Also working with a friend to fabricate a flat floor and improved ducting for front wheel arches, new plenum and inlet ducts for intake.
The rest of the car is all pretty much ok but you can always find something to tinker with if you want to.

Will continue to work hard to have it ready for driving. As you know time fly's and time to work on cars can be hard to find so will do my best to be ready for track work in 3 weeks time. Really need a day or two setting up data logging, camera, radio too.
Will WP for the first shake down then move to SMP. The SMP300 is going to come around real quick.

Some more updates as the car gets closer to making its way back to the track.

The dyno tune is booked for 22nd Feb. It is now 100% ready for the tuner with no leaks, correct coolant management, all sensors working, fuel system is ok, all firmware updated. It feels good to be in this space. Thermo fans are doing their job with the car able to idle at 80C for as long as I like. Have tested up to 40 minutes without any problems.

I have added a few photo's of the changes I made with remote battery isolation cable over the original set up. This way is a lot better than the original as no binding or poor access to the cable.

Glenn's cabin temps were a big issue at Bathurst which is something I do not want to see happening in my car so have started work on this by using the ducting which was first set for brakes, now being used for cabin cooling. The right side duct enters at the foot well with the right being set up for driver helmet/face. Chances are, it will have a blower plus filters to reduce fumes from other vehicles.

Another addition I have been wanting for quite some time is a fuel purge system. Is has been made a lot easier with the addition of the surge tank. It simply needed a 'Tee' section then hardline to a remote point where a AN6 dry break connector was fitted. So now its just a simple act of clicking on a drain line to the dry break connector, clamping the line to the surge tank, then turning on the lift pump. No spillage, complete control.

Also threw some paint at the cabin t tidy it up a bit. This is not perfect but good enough.

A lot has been happening over the last few weeks. Ticking many boxes of the list with about 15 to go.
I picked up some E85 then played around with settings until I found the right one so E85 sensor is working well.
Did a few tests which confirmed the oil pressure sensor has failed. Not impressed based on the fact it has done only a tiny amount of work.
Went through the cabin to block all the holes that I missed last time round. Pretty confident they are all patched but this took a few days to sort out.
I added a second duct in the radiator duct to help diffuse the air which comes from wheel arches and other residual areas along with adding a small amount of downforce.
Also found a defect with the way the TPS is sending its signal so will be pulling this apart to make some changes to have it provide a more stable signal.
Was planning on retune this week but have put it back a few weeks until I have sorted out the last few points as I do not want problems when I go to the tuner.

Thanks Rob. I still have a few small body mods to come but its almost ready enough to do a few laps.Just not on a 40 degree day.
I will be picking up some E85 this week to test out that sensor to make sure all is working well.
