Bgb calls it noise filter (for ignition) wiring diag shows the white black wire is ground

What is this?
Found it hanging in my engine bay
Looks like it Belongs bolted against the body or something
92 aus delivered 3sge

Also my 5000km old Amsoil tranny oil is pretty darl in colour now
Is this normal for a gearbox or?
