Old school kinda solid. Not new school fancy or refined. Just gets the job done eventually.

Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (B24)

I think this is a great mod for a MR2. Excellent engine.
You can change the engine to suit a more torque base powerband than the 9000rpm screamer if its a concern.
A 4.5 final drive can be fitted to the E153. You can also use the V6 3/4/5 to tighten up the ratio's. My car has this mod and there is a improvement over the standard set.
At least the exhaust would be pointing the right way!
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (Eric)

The Chuck Norris of the gearbox world?

Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (MR2QIK)

Unless going all-motor, I'd certainly prefer an E153 to a Honda transmission. E153's are known as the Getrag 6speed of the 4banger import world as far as strength is concerned.
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (Nik_Lee)

Ok yeah I see your point but to me I would not go from turbo back to naturally aspirated and the potential of these engines when with forced induction would be the draw card for me.
Also mine is a street car so gearing on track would not matter I would prefer to have gearing that would allow lower rev's when cruising at highway speeds.
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (MCT_MR2)

The e153 would be fine for a boosted k swap, but with a high redline and less torque than a 3sgte, the gearing would make it feel less powerful than it is. It youd never used 4th and 5th on a track unless you short shift.

Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (Nik_Lee)

I really don't see how the ratios would make it any different to if it was behind a 3SGTE?
Hux racing do also offer a kit that uses the Honda gearbox but they even say themselves that is not the best option as it is not as strong as the E153.

Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (Adrian)

E153 ratios would be terrible. Revving up to 8500rpm in 3rd gear, you'd be doing 190kph. You'd have to put in a super short final drive to make it nice. I think they have a kit that uses the Honda gearbox now. Would be a better package, and lighter too.
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (Nik_Lee)

Looking at the Hux Racing site they have some good products for swapping in the K series, I'm not sure I should be looking at it.... <img src="https://www.classic-ford.org/mr2/mr2play/upfiles/smiley/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="" data-smiley="" />
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (dylmrt)

need one for AW11!
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (kameleon)

Nice price.

Still not as cost effective as a build original engine though (in Australia at least) due to driveline prices here.
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (just_ace)

Youd def want to relocate the oil filter....

Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (Senor_2)

Going to be a few discarded Gen 2 3S-GTE's sitting in the back corner of garages in the US soon....
Re: HUX Racing Honda K20/24 bolt in swap kit for SW20 available (MR2QIK)

Whoa!
