Ok I finally got a response back from toyota, that was a very generic one. Tours will be run again in Feb.

We run guided tours (ex Toyota employees) on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 9:00am to 11:00am and 12:30pm to 2:30pm. Our public tours will commence in February.

Approximately 3km's in walking and up to 2 hour for the tours.
A maximum of 18 people per tour and the age limit of attending is 16 yrs.' and over. (for schools we do require 2 teachers and up to 16 students)

There are no cost involved in our plant tours.

A brief description of the visit:
Press (where are panels are pressed)
Weld (where we robotically/manually weld the panels together to give the body shell)
Paint Shop Foyer (explains the paint process of the car)
Assembly (where we assembly parts to the car)

When booking a tour you will receive the following information:
Plant Tour policy
Conditions of Entry (which needs to be read and signed by each participant)
Clothing requirements (long legged trousers and fully enclosed flat sole shoes.)
Site and Parking details.

At the moment I'm thinking sometime in April for the tour.

Half a dozen MR2 Club members went on this tour early in 2013. It was a walking tour that covered the production of Camry and Aurion. It was great seeing how quickly one of these cars comes together on the assembly line and the attention to detail in quality control. The only place we didn't get to see (for safety/security reasons) was the paint shop.

I understand one of the reasons the Eiden Day was postponed was the current industrial situation. Might pay to check if these tours are still being conducted.

Oh that'd be cool if it's a weekend. I'm quite keen to do it. It's on my list of stuff I wanna do.

One of the many advantages of being a Vic Club Member.
The Toyota Club of Aus has invited Mr2 club members to also participate in a special Eiden Day at the Toyota Plant Altona next March. Probably will be held on a Sunday.
While at this stage a factory tour is just a possibilty like last time, but it could still be a good day with the Gymkhana also planned.

Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I posted but have been thinking about this for a while now.

Who would be interested to see through the Toyota Factory in Altona? They run tours of the factory twice weekly (unfortunately during the week). I have emailed them to see if we could arrange a group (they say up to around 18 people). register your interest here :)
