(Gatesys SW20)

picked car up yesterday!
All is good clutch bites nice, like a new clutch should,
break in period commencing, will doble check after 1000kms with them everything is sweet!

only issue, my wheel alignment at the rear is screwed, so have to getr that redone :(
Re: My gearbox issue.. please look. (IMR22C)

SAW4397
Please tell me you at least checked them? with torque wrench or something? Also it was the pressure plate may I remind you that this is usually only torqued to something like 40nm or less depending on the pressure plate so using a rattle gun is ****ing overkill not to mention there is a sequence for them.

Yeah I'd never use a rattle gun on a pressure plate because they need to be tightened down evenly.
But again, never once did I torque them, just tightened evenly with a 3/8" drive and socket. (and then double and triple checked)
Re: My gearbox issue.. please look. (Gatesys SW20)

Yeah,
he was a fully qualified mechanic, 8 years exp
on Performance cars, dealership and mining equipment..
built his own AE86 racecar.. 4agte motor.

but owell.
was pulled off an on that job all the time hence the time it took, and probably was rushing as it had been 3 days almost 4..
went in Wednesday returned Tuesday arvo.

Went into the exedy place, Monday, picking it up the sarvo, only because they needed to wait for a clutch kit to come in this morning. ortherwise would have been finished at 3pm Monday..
Re: My gearbox issue.. please look. (SAW4397)

Gatesys SW20
Hi guys,
will be back on the road tomorrow,
problem was, somebody torqyed the pressure plate down with a rattle gun, and warped the plate.
snapped on of my fly wheel dowels and mushroomed the others.

Yea unfortunately at dealerships its all rush rush time time money money no quality what so ever. but seriously common sense should prevail here because most of the time you cant afford to **** up at a dealership. If it was the mechanics first time through yea but seriously using a rattle gun on a pressure plate.... ****ing retarded.

IMR22C
I have previously worked as a mechanic for 5 years and have done countless clutch replacements, never once have I used or even thought of using a torque wrench for flywheel bolts. Nothing wrong with the rattle gun, just the user.

Please tell me you at least checked them? with torque wrench or something? Also it was the pressure plate may I remind you that this is usually only torqued to something like 40nm or less depending on the pressure plate so using a rattle gun is ****ing overkill not to mention there is a sequence for them.

Dennis: nice quote there :)

Re: My gearbox issue.. please look.
