I'm now looking at tyres has anyone ever had achilles tyres on their sdub? they have some good reviews the ATR Sport 2's and they're very cheap. What tyre sizes do you guys recommend with the 17x8 and 17x9 wheels?

I just found a set of rays volk gram lights (57 pro i believe) 17x8 +30 and 17x9 +35 sounds pretty good to me

Unfortunately meisters are not cheap (nor are most forged wheels). 17" in SW20 sizes even 2nd hand will start from about $1500.

This is exactly what i'm looking for but i'm starting to get picky on my rims if you've seen armands mr2 with the gold centre and chrome lip (work meisters) but in the size you have just recommended, that is the style i'm looking for but i'm probably looking forward of $2000 for wheels like those haha. I might wait until Jan and see what you bring down I don't think i'll push it at the moment since i've still got a couple of other things i have to pay for soon but i'll keep in mind that you can help me out cheers.

Those rims are Yokohama AVS Model 5 (version 1).

A fairly common wheel in japan so they come up for very reasonable prices these days. Let me know if you want a set, I could definitely organise for you.

I think decide what you really want, and make the decision off the back of that.

If you want a "Stanced/hellaflush" look, then you will need to roll guards, camber, stretch tyres, and you want to get something 8"+ for the front and 10" even for the rear

If you want something practical that looks nice but not "stanced" I'd recommend just sticking to something that fits and doesn't look super tucked, so a something as closed to 17x7.5 +30-32 and 17x8.5+32 as possible.

I have 16x8 +35 (215/50/16) on my fronts and 17x9 +23 (235/45/17) on my rears with slightly rolled guards. Since I have a Gen 3 MR2 (96), there's no camber adjustment so they do knock the guards if I go over humps. I'm looking at rectifying this with 235/40/17's since 225's are deemed 'illegal'. I'd say all I need is that bit less of a sidewall to prevent this knocking on the rear guards.
(yes, you read right, I have a triple staggered set up :p)

Yeah i rolled my guards if your careful you wont crack the paint. Purple5ive- I got very lucky mine are Work Stitch 3 piece jap wheels I brought them off a guy that needed money for a new engine in his s13. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time

if you go 35 offset you will just get awy with not rolling guards.
for that price gorrila has some nice wheels, specially those BBS wheels

hmm i'd rather not roll my gaurds and i don't want to spend an excessive amount of money on rims try keep it below $1500.

yeah dont forget you will have to roll the guards to clear them in those offsets.

nate_p - where did you get those wheels from, i would kill for those offsets on my equips
