Mine was just an in-between daily for a few months while I rebuilt my mk2 coup, sold the RS on when mine was built . Sometimes the colour looks best during it's curing time, my yellow van was a light shade of green for a month till it settled down !

Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (PeterM)

Hi Martymexico,
Ford Australia calls it 'Midnight' Group C 1979/1980. No reference to blue.

I put the bodyshell out in strong sunlight yesterday for the first time for a few minutes. On the sunlight side appears a very deep tone of purple and magenta. On the shadow side when casually looked at first appears black but then looked closer realised it's definitely not black. Tended to play with my head because the colour, hue and tone constantly changes depending on angle of incidence it's looked at relative to the sun even though it is a solid (not metallic) paint. I started tripping out a bit so put the shell back inside and went and did something else. The car was painted 14 days ago so I expect the hue and tone will darken over the next month or so as the paint cures. The paint is being air dried at lowest possible temperatures, not baked.

Hi Drewdog,
When the cars were new I recall the stripes and logo could be black or silver or white.

Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (Drewdog)

Awesome! *wipes drool from chin*
I know its been discussed deep in the archives before but what colour are the stripes meant to be on these? I know someone who's incredible with 3D printing I should find out how easily the caps could be made. He did say there would be texture left on the plastic so some filler primer and paint would be required for a proper finish
Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (deano)

any luck in the end PeterM?
Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (PeterM)

The Paul Robin FB listing look like the Cortina version to me.
:)

Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (Drewdog)

Are those last ones Cortina offset? The Cortina has a different offset making the pitch of the spokes steeper where as the Escort is almost flat.
Not so noticeable in sales pics but very evident when on the car, see the recent Mk2 Rallye Pack thread, Cortina wheels...

In regards to caps, anyone got a supplier? Performance wheels used to do them but can't find them on the website anymore. I sent one off to a guy that was going to 3D print them but he disappeared along with the sample.
If anyone was serious about getting them done I have a couple of left that could be used.
Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (PeterM)

Thanks, found it. :)

Re: WTB: RS2000 Volante wheels (PeterM)

Hi Deano,
Thank you. :)
I am interested in the wheels from Paul Robin.
FaceBook search appears to limit search to within 500km.
