Second bench test...FAIL

Had another go today without the spark plugs in and its just to tight to turn over.So I'm think'n I might take the head off and see if that helps?. Take a few moving parts out of the equation.Any ideas would be much appreciatedVery frustrating!!! Cheers Brad..

First bench test...FAIL

Tried first start on the Pinto today and it looks like the starter motor doesn't have enough grunt to turn over the engine, you can see the fly wheel kick a little bit when it engages but it won't turn over. Sealing Pinto sump

What's the consensus with the cork sections of a Pinto sump gasket - sealant or no sealant?Old Gregory's says sealant both sides, while old Haynes manual says use grease? If sealant, what's best for cork?Cheers..

2ltr pinto hard to start

hi guys, im trying to get my old 2ltr going good enough to get the van past rego pink slip, as the heading states its very hard to start, (even with a 240v jumper) but once started it runs quite well revs freely with no missing and farting, idles at 800rpm dont want to install the new engine yet as ..

Head studs

Apart from stripping a sump bolt we had a productive day working on this engine today, but one thing I've noticed is when we torqued the head down there are different heights in how much of the studs head sticks out of the engine head. Hi guysWhen I got this engine all I was told is it has a lumpy cam Its got new std valvesStd rocker armsStd springsThe cam has no marking except the number 35 stamped on one end does this mean anything to anyone?What should I set the gap to? Cheers..
