Pinto engine

hey guys, im looking into building my pinto engine, the motor is out of Steviestar's escort he has told me i have a cosworth crank stroking to 2.2lt how can i find this out for sure? Ta Matt..

40 marked on top of my piston heads

i took apart the head on my pinto. discovered a different cam double valve springs and the number 40 on top of my piston heads. does this mean there 40 thou pistons and that the cylinders have been bored out?..

alternative cylinder heads

hi there guys. i was looking at a thread on using the 16v volvo head on a 2.3L ford motor. it got me to thinking about alternative pinto heads. i went to the local parts place armed with a head gasket. the engines i found with the same bore spacing were mitsubishi astron (sigma/magna) ford sohc 3.9 ..

Pinto engine no.

I have got myself a 2L engine but know nothing about it real origins. It came out of a MK3 Capri which is suppose to have come from N.Z.,it has a 5 speed gearbox which has "88 Sierra" written on it in blue marker pen the previous owner Thought it may not been original in the Capri the No's..

Pinto harmonic balancer?

Has anyone ever modified a harmonic balancer to use on a Pinto? Seems like an obvious solution to dampen the wild harmonics that are emitted by high revving pinto's. If so, what balancer was used and how was it done? G..

is there a way to identify wether the block is a 205 or 200? i know theres lots of numbers on the side so im assuming one will tell me?..

Pinto Bottom End Rebuild Cost

Can anybody give me a rough estimate of rebuilding the bottom end of a Pinto? I guess that means new rings and bearings generally? Think the motor is fine but just needs a freshen up and check over...

burning oil?

at work last night (pizza delivery) car was blowing smoke, got home to swap cars to see was blowing blue smoke from exhaust. fired it up thismorning but no blue smoke? only a lil black sooty like stuff like normal wen i first start it up? any ideas? will prob drive it again sometime this week an..

Sleaving block. - max size?

What are the largest bore/sleaves you can fit in a pinto block? What is the bore spacing??? I dont have access to a block atm? I'm guessing it would need the bottom grout filled to retain some strength.....? Shaun..
