Oil cooler help

Hi all Im just fitting an oil cooler and sandwich plate setup to my pinto at the moment and im stuck at connecting the 'IN' and 'OUT' lines on the sandwich plate... sorry its a silly question but which one is which? looking at the attached picture is the fitting on the right and 'OUT'? Cheers ..
