Vented disks Clearance issues

MK1 Escort Auto High Reving???

What is the expected top speed of a MK1 3 Speed Auto? My son's car is flat out at about 110 KPH and certainly revs high at 100 KPH. It is selecting all 3 gears but is there a possibility that the gearbox may not be doing its job or is this normal? Thanks, Ken..
