To full reco or not to full reco? I've got a few hours to decide!

I've taken off my head on the escort (1.6l) to inspect the leak between the head and block. I cannot see any damage to the head, gasket or block so I'm thinking maybe the head wasn't torqued down correctly or that the head is warped. I've gotten a quote done for a full reco @ $550 with unleaded seat..

I'm pretty sure the head gasket is gone... It also maybe a contributor to the poor running of my escort (1.6L)... I did a compression test and I got #1 - 160psi #2 156psi #3 144psi #4 151psi. Pinto 32/36 idle mixture

When I go to adjust my idle mixture nothing happens no matter how far in or out I wind it nothing happens. I have wound it all the way out and pumped compressed air through and nothing is blocked. Has anyone else had this issue?..
