Changing back to 4 speed

One of the first things I noticed after installing the Type 9 was slower acceleration. I'm guessing this is due to both the extra weight of the box and more rotating mass on the mainshaft? Anyway, it's made that much of a difference that I'm considering putting the 4 speed back in. And also changing..

Hilux diff in a mk2 Also i'm thinking of running a four link rear end

I'm going to run a hilux diff in my van, when i put the sr20det in.What ratio's should i use,i bought a 4.3 diff but i think it will be too tall. Also i'm thinking of running a four link rear set up.That Smka sells has anyone used them for road use...

Close Ratio 4speeds?

The 4 speed single rail boxes that came in the MK2 Cortina, 1600GT capri etc, with 2.97 first gear.I haven't seen much info about them. Can they be used behind pintos in Escort shells? Do the extension housings need to be swapped for escort to line up the shifter hole? Thanks..

Reverse detent on a type E 4 speed gearbox.

I own a 1979 Escort mk2 two door race car with a type E 4 speed single rail gearbox. The reverse detent is virtually non existant, & I constantly can't find second gear when changing from third back to second, resulting in compression lock-up when I do eventually find it. Not good in a corner. I..
