Anglia Throttle Arm

Hi all. I have just removed my throttle arm to allow me to use a cable instead, however have discovered that the pedal now has nothing to attach to. I have just seen a thread regarding heating and bending the arm. Is this the only option and then attach a cable to the arm? I am running a 1600 crossf..
