Hi Bru,

I have a few mates that have used this unit.

https://rceperformance.com.au/brand/phantom-340-stealth-fuel-system.html

It's a super solid option as it's depth adjustable, baffled, low profile on the top and has a vent line so you can still run a charcoal canister. As it's so thin up top only a few thin hard rubber spacers are needed to allow clearance for the lines and looks really good fitted.

Be aware though I think it may be hard to get a road-worthy/engineers cert with one, someone step in if I am wrong but I think modifications to fuel tanks are a no no.

Mods to a fuel tank is allowed by engineer but some states might get shirty over different bolt holding the tank in place. I moved the inlet on my tank, blocked the original hole, not a problem. Just as long as everything that was there is there, vent wise and no leaks etc and it'll be peachy .
I went looking after his ask and went straight to AliExpress looking for senders, as most are top load it'll be hard to get it right on a mk1 tank, closet one I found was from a Pajero but again there'll be cutting and welding involved to make it work.
If the original sender is working but not the gauge there's ohm/resister kits that'll get the dial working, or just buy a generic gauge that's got adj readings

Update:

i have managed to clean up the Sender, removed all the grime and rust and seems to be working well.
i was after a new float and filter which goes on top of the fuel outlet tank and couldn't find anything.
so i took a gamble and order Brass float and filter for a Ford Falcon XY:

And its a perfect fit, ..

Also just wondering if some one could advise me what this is on the tank and what its function?
thx Bru

Glad you got it sorted,
That plastic cap thing possibly for a return vapour line. Being from UK they had different set ups to us . Car makers back then added/ factored in the future to some components

Yep just pop the plastic bung out and braze a 'coin' over the hole.

Agree with Marty, Multi fit/purpose.
Probably best to pressure test it after you finished the mods.

Not sure what state your in Bru, but I always give my engineer a call before I do something a bit left field.
Is that a new tank?
