Hello everyone!

I would need your help to find the VIN on the Capri Mk1 of my friend : )

He imported the car from England and need to buy a left and right rear wings.
The car is in Bulgaria and I was able to understand it should be possible to order the parts on the internet.
The person on the phone for ordering the parts told me it is better to confirm the compatibility with the VIN first to be sure ...

I cannot unfortunately provide a 17 lengths VIN to the person but only 11 (screenshots "Capri1.jpg" and "Capri3.jpg" show it)
We also noticed this plate (screenshots "Capri2.jpg") but nothing with 17 lengths for now : /

Thanks for your help,
Christopher

Just supply those numbers, if they need 17 that's their problem.
I have a 56 Prefect with 5 numbers and a letter. Old cars don't have 17 digits that's for new cars..

Thanks for your answer Marty :) I contacted the service again he understood it is a old car and actually I forgot but this person told me yesterday that they can check the compatibility if I give to them the part number of those parts (original).
Can I obtain those part numbers somewhere?

Today he just told me there are some fees (actually very low amount) to return the parts if they do not fit so I think I will order the parts :)

Update:

because the parts are very big, this security policy to not pay the delivery back does not apply :/

Also I understood today the parts are for Capri 3 :/

Any idea where I could find those parts?

Thanks! Quite expensive but I suppose it is because of the collection status of the car :/

17 digit VINs were only introduced in 1981, as a world standard. Prior to that all Capri's used an 11 digit combined Chassis/Vehicle number, your friends being GAECJR55828. Broken down this reads as follows:
G=Germany (Country of Origin), A=Cologne (Manufacturing Plant), E=Capri (Vehicle Type), C=2-Door Coupe (Body Type), J=1969 (Year of Manufacture), R=June (Month of Manufacture) followed by 55828, the unique vehicle serial number.
The other Tag is a Body Tag which identifies the vehicle again along with many of its features and accessories. I can decode that for you, but you really don't need that information for body parts.

You can do some more research and searching for parts at Ford Capri MK1 spare parts and product data from Motomobil

Cheers, Terry

Thanks a lot Terry! I found less expensive parts on Leboncoin website in France but the pieces are for Ford Capri mk1 RS. Would you be able to know if it is a RS version from the code?

I wish you a great day ahead,
Christopher
