After the initial drive and excitement, and having parked it back in the shed I've now been working come to the realisation that the next major job is the rust repairs.
Tomorrow I'll lay everything out and double check what I have/need and then the process of unpicking the bits I need from the donor sections can begin.
The only mechanical parts still to do are the heater tap (yet to arrive, heater hose is in a loop), the inlet manifold leak and the gearbox seal to fit.
Still not sure what I'll do with the body. Want to leave it with some of the patina, just not sure what finish to have.
Cut and polish, clear matt or a semi gloss over the top.
I switch between loving and hating the bonnet, it is certainly the worst condition of the car. I have a spare, might try a painted version on the car and see how it looks.
Have attached a pic to show the extend of the rust and damage on the bonnet.
I'll be asking lots of questions about rust repairs soon.
