Thanks for the measurement - it looks to be about 12cm from the lip to the end of the shroud?

Hmmmm I may be in trouble here - I think I'll have to get it further back - I have about 5mm of clearance before it hits the front panel.

93mm from inside of panel to end of radiator - I don't think I have the clearance right now for the fans and shroud.

I think from memory and it looks to me on your snaps the thermostat housing is the farthest out from the block yes?

Just been out for another look, add 10mm to my measurements, I went from the lower lip of the panel not the back edge like you've shown.

Pulled the fan off of the engine on the stand (original block to my car) for a better look. The thermostat and water pump housings protrude by about the same but the spindle / drive on the water pump sticks out by a further 25mm.

Absolute legend - ok two things i need to do then - I need to shove back the intercooler right to the front panel and I need to change these bolts on each side to counter sunk hex key bolts with countersunk solid cup washers - It fouled on the very bottom of the rad so that's why its not further back.

Those two things should give me the clearance I need - thanks again Drew!

Sounds like a good plan, hope it all works out. Shout out if you need anything else, happy to help.

Wow things will be tight in there, I was going to say the water pump will be the enemy but hey you can slide the engine back about 5mm if there's no other option by adjusting the mounts . I was hoping you'd be designing a wcxm style mounting as the torque your turbo will generate could shred rubber mounts in no time. Keep up the assembly plant mate 😁

Mark, just to clarify. You are going a pull fan? And the intercooler is sitting directly in front of the radiator?

Got a call from the powder coater to come and collect the parts I dropped down a few weeks back... holy moly it's like being a kid on Christmas day unwrapping all the bits!

I've had some restraint and only unwrapped a few bits to take photos so I could post up the finish. Check it out!

Couldn't be happier with how they've come out!

Looking good👍 I like the way they neatly wrap everything in paper, definitely adds to the magic when it comes home
For me powdercoating is a no brainer, it's tough, durable and long lasting. The underside of my car still looks like the day I picked it up.
Then theres the cost and time saving, you can spend all day prepping parts then have to hang and paint them all or just drop them off and in most cases you'll get the whole lot done for the price of your DIY materials alone.
Only downside is if it gets into any threads, I learned that the hard way to start. Now I just use old nuts and bolts from my bucket of bits to 'mask' any threads.
This is what my steering rack looked like before it went in, not pretty but it works to keep things clean.

I tend to clean and taps threads on anything I'm rebuilding nowadays anyway, it feels therapeutic to me.
I must be getting old
