New stuff alert!! Managed to pick up two interior pieces from the same gentleman this week. Both pieces are in substantially better condition than my originals.

The dash pad is a completely original part, no cracks, only some slight surface gunk that needs cleaned off, you can see a few white marks on it from storage, I rubbed at it with just my finger and it started to come off just fine. It will look absolutely awesome when its cleaned up!

Any tips on keeping it supple would be appreciated, the old gent I bought it off seems to think rubbing vaseline onto the surface on a warm day and allowing it to absorb is the way to go but curious to hear what you all think!

The second piece is a well presenting center console, with an original clock! It also has the carrier still in place for the factory radio which I was super surprised by.

Again any tips on giving this trim a bit of revitalization would be massively appreciated, I'm super happy with both these parts as they and want to keep them that way!

Nice score on the parts, that dash top is a minter. Keeping it as new, I would not know that trick except a dash mat !!

What a score!

I’ve found autoglyn bumper trim gel is great for blacks etc. I put it routinely on the spoiler and anything that likes it. It does attract a bit of dust if used on the exterior but once it’s worked in it keeps everything nice and sleek

Honestly the thought crossed my mind! I already have one cause the old dash was a mess.. It would be a shame to cover such a nice piece up!

I've been burnt by products in the past actually causing more damage to what you're trying to protect, I might try this on the OLD crash pad to see if it takes it well.

I’m really picky with my products and love this. Give it a crack on your old one and see. A little bit goes a long way with that stuff.

Agree with Marty tho a dash Mat is great but if it’s just going be a weekend warrior car I think you’ll be ok.

Im envious on both counts.
Fortunately your dash top doesnt fit a van apparently, and I need a centre console suited for  a large touchscreen unit so you are safe..
I think i've killed dashtops in the past when everything in site used to get liberal doses of Armour All, as you did back then.
My Capri dash is still going strong, but these days i'd just be inclined to give it a good soapy water wash and scrub, then a damp cloth to remove dust.

I'm with Deano on the warm soapy water, maybe with a little wash and wax if you need some sheen.
Specifically on dash tops I think the silicone based sprays may actually help crack them by acting as a tanning lotion in the sun, effectively covering them in a thin layer of hot oil. I managed to pick up a fibreglass one covered in vinyl for mine so hopefully won't be an issue in the future.

What are you doing with the blackouts on the nosecone Mark? Painting them or leaving them natural?
If you're leaving them natural something like the Autoglym like Robbie suggested would do the trick. I use Mothers back to black on my spoiler and nosecone. It brings them both up really well and is dry to the touch afterwards so doesn't spread everywhere like the Armour all types.

2nd to Back to Black it's brilliant stuff, used it on my 3dr focus door strips to get more black like 2yrs ago and they still black.. Usually 2 coats will be it for a year of rejuvenation

Heres a patch of back to black I did on the old Corolla this morning, pity it can't fix the sunburnt paint on the old girl

I do the trim on the RS once a year(ish) but I've got no doubt it'd last longer like Marty has said.

Wow yeah that's really made a difference on that trim. I like mothers products in general, I'll get those two in the next few weeks and do a trail of all three methods on the old dash pad and see what comes up best!

Armour All was what killed the dash pad in my car originally, dad remembers it like yesterday cause it still ****s him that it happened. He put the Armour All on the car when he was washing it, we had a run of hot weather and ALL three cracks started after the first day or two in the sun.
