Got a start on the box today, everything was going great until I realized I've got no RTV for the gaskets!

Will have to finish it off tomorrow.

Option three, Grey! JB-weld RTV Grey to be precise, I've found it to seal the best out of anything I've ever used. Well apart from the VW/Audi branded sump sealer which is very similar.

Type 9 gearset is together, the sandwich plate bearings fought me a bit, I should have measured them before fitting but it seems the ones they supplied were like 1 or 2 thou thicker and didn't sit flush with the snap ring groove. I ended up having to flat sand by hand the two snap rings and take off a little thickness to get them to snap home. Massive pain in the ass but everything is done and in now.

I just need to chuck on the bell housing and the tail housing for now and put it to the side until I either modify the tail housing or order the new casted one.

Went the 2.98 first gear kit from Burtons. Sorry there have been no posts lately, unfortunately my Grandfather has passed on and I am helping family with the estate.

Sorry to hear Mark.
Enjoy a cold one tribute to your GF when you are next back in the shed.

So still no shed time unfortunately, every spare moment has been spent sorting out the Grandmothers house so she has a decent place to live. I'm not proud to admit it but I should have put my foot down years ago and stepped in to fix the place up, it shouldn't have taken my Grandfather passing for it to happen.

The good news is though after a mountain of work the place is actually livable now after almost a full interior renovation and she comes home from respite care next week!

On to exciting stuff now though, what could possibly be in this box?! Whoever guesses right gets a crisp high five!

Also managed to get down to the panel shop to see some progress, pick up the front suspension and drop something off that may or may not be related to that box. I snapped a few pics for my records and your enjoyment, he thinks it will be ready in Jan but I am hedging my bets that i'll get it sometime Feburary.

Yep best to be conservative with the time frame Mark. I think we all learn this

It has taken the best part of this year to get the ECU and ancillaries hooked up and working on my build. Not how I had planned it but I at least have learnt a lot about something which previously was pretty foreign to me.

Is that another Esci I can see through your engine bay?
