Yes, beevee was correct, maybe it could be both, a carrier bracket lol. Focus has 4x flex hoses at the rear which join together thru a standoff , strange but eh !!

My plan was to take cables, hoses, calipers, nuts, bolts, pads and everything else attached to any of the items I've just listed in order to dummy it all up and make it fit.
 
Was thinking of getting the disks as well, but I'm just going to straight up buy the slotted & dimpled disks I posted on the previous page, as long as the disks on the donor wreck are the same size of the ones I'm going to buy. Don't see the need to spend money on used disks.
 
I'm not sure when I'll be going to the wreckers to get it all, but I'll check out the hand brake cable on the Fiesta & report back what I find.

I believe there is 2x rear rotor sizes , 1 , the standard 1.8,2.0 everyday focus which the size is about 258mm.
Or, 2, the big guy ST170 rotors of 280mm. Since only 128 ST170s ever sold in Aust, and prolly about 5 left on the road now, I think the smaller of the two is best option !

The ones I linked to are 252.5mm diameter so just any old bog stock Mk1 Focus then.

Chuff, the carrier is the hub that everything attaches to. Focus has independent rear suspension with the hubs attached to the rear swing arm axle stubs.  I replaced the standard rubber brake hoses with stainless flex hoses and had to make some minor adjustments to the steel brake line mounting block configuration on the diff. I completely removed the standard Mk2 handbrake assy. Also didn't keep and on-sell the larger 10" rear drum brake set up from the RS- silly me!

I have some questions regarding the uploaded disk brake adapter in post #12 of this thread.
 
The standard Escort configuration has the axle passing through the rear drum brake backing plate and then the squarish plate sandwiches the brake backing plate to the differential housing via 4 bolts.
 
Obviously when upgrading to the disk brake setup as detailed in this thread we no longer use the rear drum brake backing plate but I want to be 100% sure as to where abouts the new Disk Brake adapter plate fits?
 
The outer diameter of the rear axle bearing is 62mm and the center hole in the CAD drawing is 64mm so I'm guessing the configuration would be to sandwich the disk brake adapter plate between the squarish plate and the differential housing via 4 bolts which should be 10mm longer in order to allow for the 10mm thickness of the disk brake adapter. Is this correct?
 
I'm asking this for 2 reasons. Firstly, I want to make sure I get it right as this will determine the location of the caliper relative to the disk, and secondly, I'm in the process of buying some new mags wheels and I need to know what additional width will be added to the complete differential assembly in order to make sure I get the correct mag wheel offset. I'd hate to spend all that money on rims and tyres only to find that the the tyres now rub on the rear guard lip because the 10mm disk brake adapter and the thickness of the disk hub and potentially the axle is also now 10mm further out because of the disk brake adapter.

When I was working at Quickco Motorsports we developed a rear brake kit but very crude as not much was available..
Nowadays the best cheapest option is to use focus mk1 (LR) rear rotors, calipers and possibly handbrake cable.
The caliper adapter plate will mount on the inside of the 4 bolt flange, diff centre side.
As for spacing the squarey plate, we used to use just washers which took up the thickness of the backing plate of about 2mm . If your backing plates are stuffed, you could cut them back to the squarey plate and that's that part. Thickness of rotor hub is about 6mm which is the measurement your after, nothing else changes. Mount caliper at the back of the axle as focus has, plate thickness can be as thin as 6mm but wouldn't go higher than 8mm as it's only the rears , this bracket can be mounted by just 2 of the flange bolts, if you want to be sneaky a secluded weld stitch or two in hidden zones for piece of mind.
I did my rear calipers way back in the 90s and just welded the brackets on, never a problem tho later when I bent a housing I decided to bolt and weld the brackets on. Calipers I used back then were Telstar turbo and rotors were Volvo 264 machined down to 245mm then redrilled the stud holes for escort .

The 64mm hole in the center of the CAD adapter bracket in this thread is too small to pass over the end of the diff housing flange at the end of the diff the way you describe it. I could cut a section out of the CAD adapter bracket in order to mount it inward of the flange so it's on the diff center side as you describe but the CAD adapter bracket design as it exist in the file to me indicates that it exists as drawn so I can't see it being installed on the diff center side of the flange.
 
Hopefully NQRS himself or someone who has used a similar adapter bracket will comment as the only way I can see it fitting is as I described 2 posts ago.
